Introduction to Paver Blocks

Paver Blocks are precast concrete products used for flooring, roads, parking areas, footpaths, and landscaping. These blocks are designed to provide high strength, durability, and attractive appearance. They are widely used as a replacement for concrete flooring and asphalt roads. Paver blocks offer better durability, easy maintenance, and attractive design.

Manufactured from a zero‑slump concrete mix under high pressure and vibration, they deliver superior compressive strength (typically 30‑50 N/mm²) and excellent resistance to weathering and heavy loads.

Types, Shapes & Thickness

Common Shapes

Custom colors and designs available

Thickness Selection

  • 60mm → Footpath / Garden
  • 80mm → Parking / Residential Road
  • 100mm → Heavy Load / Industrial Area

✓ Proper thickness ensures long life and load capacity

Raw Materials Used

Paver blocks are manufactured using high‑quality materials:

  • Cement – OPC 53 Grade binder
  • Sand – Fine aggregates for dense finish
  • Stone aggregates – Coarse (6-10mm) for strength
  • Pigments – Iron oxide for vibrant, UV‑stable colours
  • Water – For proper hydration
Proper mix ensures:

High strength, long life, good finish

Manufacturing Process (Two Methods)

Hydraulic Press Machine Process High Quality

Process Steps:
  1. Material Mixing – Cement, sand, aggregates, and pigments mixed properly.
  2. Feeding into Machine – Mixture placed into mould.
  3. Hydraulic Pressing – High pressure applied; blocks become dense and strong.
  4. Demoulding – Blocks come out with perfect shape.
  5. Curing – Water curing for strength.

Advantages: High strength blocks, uniform size & finish, suitable for heavy load, premium quality.

Vibrating Table + Manual Mould Filling Economy Method

Process Steps:
  1. Manual Mixing – Raw materials mixed manually or with mixer.
  2. Hand Filling in Mould – Mixture filled manually into mould.
  3. Vibrating Table Compaction – Mould placed on vibrating table; vibration removes air gaps.
  4. Manual Levelling – Surface finished manually.
  5. Demoulding – Blocks removed from mould.
  6. Curing – Water curing done.

Advantages: Lower production cost, suitable for small projects, flexible design production.

Limitation: Slight variation in size, lower strength compared to hydraulic press.

Paver Block Comparison – Why It Is Better

Superior performance over traditional surfaces

1. Paver Block vs Concrete Flooring

FeaturePaver BlocksConcrete Flooring
Installation Time Fast Slow
Repair Very Easy (replace block) Difficult (break whole area)
Cracking Very Low High chances

Paver blocks are more practical, attractive, and easy to maintain compared to concrete flooring.

2. Paver Block vs Asphalt Road

FeaturePaver BlocksAsphalt
Durability High Medium
Heat Resistance High Low (melts in heat)
Maintenance Low Frequent repairs

Conclusion: Paver blocks are more durable and suitable for long-term use than asphalt.

3. Paver Block vs Traditional Cement Floor

FeaturePaver BlocksCement Floor
Water Drainage Good (through joints) Poor (water logging)
Surface Cracks Rare Common
Reusability Yes No

Conclusion: Paver blocks provide better drainage, flexibility, and long-term performance.

4. Paver Block vs Tiles Flooring (Outdoor)

FeaturePaver BlocksTiles
Cost Affordable Expensive
Strength High Medium
Slip Resistance Good Slippery

Conclusion: Paver blocks are much better for outdoor and heavy-load areas compared to tiles.

5. Paver Block vs Stone Flooring

FeaturePaver BlocksNatural Stone
Cost Affordable Expensive
Installation Easy Difficult
Maintenance Low Medium

Conclusion: Paver blocks give similar strength with better cost efficiency and flexibility.
